Janus membranes for membrane distillation: Recent advances and challenges

چکیده
Membrane distillation (MD) is a promising hybrid thermal-membrane separation technology that can efficiently produce freshwater from seawater or contaminated wastewater. However, the relatively low flux and presence of fouling wetting agents in feed solution negate applicability MD for long term operation. In recent years, 'two-faced' membranes Janus have shown potential to decrease problem common system as well enhance performance. this review, comprehensive study was performed investigate various fabrication, modification, novel design processes prepare discuss their performance desalination wastewater treatment utilizing MD. The potential, challenges future prospects relating use are also tackled review.

متن کاملNovel Janus Membrane for Membrane Distillation with Simultaneous Fouling and Wetting Resistance.
A novel Janus membrane integrating an omniphobic substrate and an in-air hydrophilic, underwater superoleophobic skin layer was developed to enable membrane distillation (MD) to desalinate hypersaline brine with both hydrophobic foulants and amphiphilic wetting agents. Engineered to overcome the limitations of existing MD membranes, the Janus membrane has been shown to exhibit novel wetting pro...
